The heart of any great pub is its food, and The Whichcote Arms excels in this regard. The menu showcases a variety of British classics, each prepared with a contemporary touch that highlights the freshest seasonal ingredients.
One of the standout dishes is their slow-cooked lamb shank, which is tender and succulent, served with a rich gravy that perfectly complements the depth of the meat. The fish and chips, a beloved British staple, is another highlight, with crispy batter and perfectly seasoned fish that’s both light and flavorful. For a lighter bite, their ploughman’s lunch offers a selection of artisanal cheeses, crusty bread, and a tangy pickle that perfectly balances the rich flavors.
The Whichcote Arms also offers a variety of vegetarian options that showcase the best of plant-based cuisine. The roasted vegetable tart is a crowd favorite, with a flaky pastry shell and a medley of seasonal vegetables, all perfectly seasoned to bring out their natural sweetness.

WOW ! We've driven past here literally hundreds of times and decided in the spur of the moment to call in for lunch. We were welcomed in by the front of house team and made to feel at home. We chose from the small plates menu when I had the soup (roasted tomato and red pepper) and the better half had the potato's with summer truffle sauce. Including two drinks the bill came to £25 - so not the cheapest but the food was beautifully prepared and presented. We will definitely be back for more ! Apparently it's a new kitchen team who've been for a few days. All I can say is that they are very talented and I look forward to working my way through the menus.less
Really enjoyed our two night stay here. Our room was lovely and the whole place was exceptionally clean. The staff were helpful and incredibly friendly and obliging. Thank you so much Sue and Leanne. We would also like to say a big thank you to Matt…with whom we spent a very entertaining evening whisky tasting and learning of interesting local events to visit in the future. Sadly the kitchen was closed as it was going through a deep clean so we are unable to give our opinion on dinner. However, breakfast was provided and that was a varied menu and very enjoyable .less

Had high hopes having heard about this place but was disappointed to say the least. The staff were lovely - very friendly and accommodating but the food was not as expected. Very expensive for what you actually get. Also you have to order vegetables as extra which was surprising- veg are so cheap it would cost very little and would add colour to the dishes. I had fish which was bland and unseasoned and my partner had a lamb chop. One tiny chewy lamb chop for £24! I know eating out is a luxury and you expect to pay for that but that is ridiculous. Very disappointing visit.less
Visited on a busy Thursday night. The waiting staff were excellent. A really good choice on the menu. The food was really imaginative and well prepared. We both really enjoyed the 3 courses and the wine list gave us a good selection to go with our food. A lovely atmosphere and some brilliant food.less
